On Sunday, January 12, 2025, at approximately 7:30PM the Minier Police Department and Minier Fire Department responded along with several area fire departments to a structure fire at 502 North Maple Avenue. There were no occupants inside the residence. Fire crews were able to put the fire out without any damage to surrounding residences. An investigator from the Illinois State Fire Marshal’s Office responded to the scene to determine the cause and origin of the fire. The Red Cross was contacted by the Minier Police Department to assist the homeowner.
After several interviews were conducted, the Minier Police Department, with the assistance of the Illinois State Fire Marshal’s Office and Tazewell County State’s Attorney’s Office, arrested Kaden M. Lane, 18, for one felony count of residential arson. He is currently being held at the Tazewell County Jail. The incident is being investigated by the Minier Police Department, Minier Fire Department, and the Illinois State Fire Marshal’s Office. There is no on-going threat to the public as this is believed to be an isolated incident.
