Characters of Christmas – Theme of the 2022 Minier Christmas Parade

The 2022 Minier Christmas Parade theme is “Characters of Christmas.” If you are from an organization, business, or group of friends from Minier and the surrounding area, we invite you to pull together a walking unit, float, pick-up truck and decorate it using this theme (or pick one of your own), Not only are there a lot of “Characters” around Minier, there are many characters to choose to feature.

We are excited to announce that Ms. Mary Lou Freitag is the Grand Marshal of our town’s parade. Those of you know her may think we chose the theme just to compliment Mary Lou – as she is one of our most beloved characters in Minier! Next week we’ll feature her in a story all about her life. This long-time resident of Minier (and Armington) has given so much to the community as she puts the needs of others above her own. When you see her around town, please share your congratulations.

The students at Olympia West Elementary School are busy drawing and coloring their favorite Christmas characters and the top students in each grade level will win a small cash prize as well as Best Use of the Theme and a Grand Prize for Best Overall Drawing. Check with your students to see how their picture is coming along. We will be gathering those soon from Principal Castleman for Kiwanians to judge them. You’ll be seeing the award-winning drawings in Minier businesses. Students also make ornaments for the town Christmas Tree in front of Veteran’s Park on Main St.

The Annual Minier House Decorating Contest will be on Sunday, December 4. Make sure your lights are turned on! We will give prizes to the top four houses and let others know of your accomplishment by placing a yard sign on your front lawn later in the week.
